Assessment of Temporomandibular Joint for Occurrence and Severity of Disorders in Adult Cases with Unilateral Cleft Lip and Palate and Non-Cleft Class I Using Helkimo Index

Background: Cleft lip and palate is congenital anomalies. patients are more akin toward surgical treatment plan neglecting the dental aspects as aesthetic main concern of patient bond to have malocclusion. Which may contribute Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMDs) in cleft patients. Methods: A total 40 (20 20 non class I) were taken study. patients’ selection was done based on inclusion exclusion criteria. Helkimo index used for both subjective clinical assessment TMDs groups. Results: shows significant symptom TMD between range mild severe while I cases showing mostly moderate TMDs. Conclusions: It found that Unilateral (UCLP) higher occurrence comparison with non-cleft group.
